I firmly ascribe to the belief that life boils down to one thing; anecdote shopping. Beyond being kind, personal hygiene and paying taxes we all have a duty to find interesting things and share them. It’s up to us to take a chance, try something new to see if we like it.

In the best case scenario, you discover something extraordinary you didn’t know about before. In the worst, you’ve got a new story to tell.

It’s been a good week.

First draft of book handed in, just found out I’m in stellar company and a finalist in the Saveur Food Blog awards (if you fancied, you can click on the link on the right and cast a vote this way…. ;), first television interview (more on that to come), nearly finished the blog renovations (there’s something shiny coming soon), a spectacular meal at James Ramsden and Oliver Thring‘s Kebab Kitchen supper club and now we’re dashing out the door for five days in Cyprus and four days in Istanbul. Bring on the sunshine and baklava.

In my efforts to break away from the crutch of carbs these white beans have become my blue jeans. They’re my ballet slippers. The big grey jumper. They’re my stretchy black sun dress, or for The Hungry One, the football jersey that he should really let go of.  In essence, they’re what I reach for from the cupboard, far, far too often.
