On New Years Eve, we sat, as we have many times before, counting our blessings on soft grass that overlooks the lemon yellow and blue grey curve of Avoca Beach.

We set a table with red and white plates that were scribed with ‘Joy’ in their centre. And we ate a feast; the sort of meal you can easily produce when there are two children spread between six adults. Greetings from Boxing Day, otherwise known as ‘international introverts day’.

There has been much that has been magical about this Christmas. Baby Will got his first star on his Grandparent’s Christmas trees- a beautiful token from his aunt. In the days before he also had his first proper taste of food (a desperate attempt from me to help garner some additional sleep for yours truely). It’s the time of year for it. Does your Christmas cake need to match your wrapping scheme? (No, hell no, this is madness and I’m well clear of it).  But is it nice if it does? Sure.
